Dear Girls on the Run caregivers,
The fall season is officially underway, and we hope your child is starting to understand their Star Power and forming connections with their teammates.
THE LEARNING JOURNEY: AT HOME AND BEYOND
In the first four lessons of Hello,Superstar!, the girls have been learning what it means to be part of a Superstar team and how each of them shines in their own special way. They started by building connections with their teammates and exploring What Makes Me, ME, celebrating the unique qualities that make each girl one of a kind. They also discovered their Star Power, the special energy inside them that helps them feel confident, capable, and strong. Most recently, they’ve practiced finding their own Happy Pace, learning that everyone’s pace is different and that moving in a way that feels good helps their Star Power shine even brighter.
In the next four lessons, the girls will continue to build on these foundations as they explore Self-Talk, All Bodies Rock, Feel Your Feelings, and Share Your Emotions. They’ll learn what self-talk is, the things we say to ourselves, whether out loud or in our heads and how choosing positive self-talk helps their Star Power grow. In All Bodies Rock, they’ll explore how the way we think about ourselves and others affects how we feel, building respect and kindness for everybody. Then, they’ll practice tuning into their own emotions through a full body scan in Feel Your Feelings and learn ways to express emotions in healthy ways during Share Your Emotions. Together, these lessons will help each girl’s Star Power continue to shine bright as they grow in confidence, kindness, and self-awareness.
Talking about emotions can be difficult, so we encourage you to connect with your participant and engage in conversations about what they learned or discussed during Girls on the Run practice.
END OF SEASON 5K
As part of the Girls on the Run program, your child will be running a non-competitive, celebratory 5K with us at the end of the season. We want everyone to be a part of it and hope to see family and friends join in the fun!
Girls and their coaches are already registered for their respective 5Ks. If you want to join your GOTR girl, you'll need to register using the proper link below. If you aren’t sure which 5K your team is running, please check our 5K list.

As we wrap up our first full month of school and establish new routines, the tension of anxiety may still be looming for kids as they make new friends, adjust to new classroom dynamics, and lay the foundation for a new school year. Parents may also have their own anxieties about the new school year and how their child is doing both academically and socially. Our friends at HCA HealthONE shared some ways to recognize signs of anxiety in kids and strategies to support a smoother start to your school year.
