Volunteers help ensure our end of season 5K celebration is possible. Come make new friends, support local runners, and help Girls on the Run! Our event volunteers make a huge impact.  We need volunteers for all sorts of things from set up to tear down, water stations and so much more.

ALL VOLUNTEER ROLES ARE FILLED FOR THIS EVENT. THANK YOU!!!

Volunteers will receive information and instructions about race day via email.

Ready. Set. Go! Lace up your sneakers, put on your gear and get ready for a 5K experience unlike  any other. The excitement in the air is palpable as the girls meet their teammates, get their  pictures taken, chant “Girls on the Run is so much fun” and squeeze in a final energy award  before heading to the starting line. Your girl may want to hold your hand, skip, sprint or walk, and  no matter what she chooses, you’ll be the support she needs along the course. And at the end,  when the finish line comes into sight, you will never forget the look on her face as she crosses  and realizes that, indeed, she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to do.

Running Buddies:

  • Are adult women (18+) from the community that want to make a difference (note – family,  eachers or other people known to the girls are NOT buddies, but are encouraged to do a standard race registration to run with their girl)
  • Are encouraging and supportive during the 5K
  • Are not focused on their own personal race time
  • Are positive role models that encourage setting a healthy pace
  • Are background checked to ensure safety of all girls

Yes. All 5K registration forms include liability waivers.

The course for a 5K is 3.1 miles.

As a reminder, this is a fun, celebratory event for our participants and not a competitive race. While our fastest 5K participants will complete the course in 25 minutes, most cross the finish line in 30-50 minutes. Everyone who participates is encouraged to walk, roll, push, run or skip at their happy pace!

First, we understand that life happens, and circumstance might make it impossible to attend.

We strongly encourage that all participants attend and complete the 5K, as it is the goal that teams are preparing for all season long! It’s the ultimate opportunity to build confidence through accomplishment. Remember, this is the first 5K event for many – including coaches, participants, friends and family members. We are in it together!

Yes. Girls on the Run 5K events are for everyone! All participants can walk, run, push or roll safely and at their own happy pace. Designated parking spots are available.

If you or your child need accomodations for the 5K, please contact us at  [email protected] so that we can ensure a great race day experience.

Being a Running Buddy means registering for and running the 5K, but with an extra-special twist: you get to be the personal cheerleader and run alongside a girl from the Girls on the Run program.

As a Running Buddy, you have the opportunity to positively encourage, pace and mentor your girl through the 5K event.

Buddies are:

  • Are adult women (18+) from the community that want to make a difference (note – family, teachers or other people known to the girls are NOT buddies, but are encouraged to do a standard race registration to run with their girl)
  • Are encouraging and supportive during the 5k
  • Are not focused on their own personal race time
  • Are positive role models that encourage setting a healthy pace
  • Are background checked to ensure safety of all girls

You must register as a community running buddy. Registered running buddies will get assigned to the teams who are in need of additional support.

For safety reasons, every runner must wear a race bib. Girls on the Run Rockies ensures every participant is running with an adult (such as a family member, friend, coach, or running buddy!). Our races take place on closed courses with staff and volunteers to help keep runners safe and on course.
