Food Drive @ Denver Metro 5K

Help Our Neighbors at the Denver Metro 5K

Throughout the Girls on the Run program, participants learn that they can make an impact in their community as an individual and as a team. As a Girls on the Run community, we can make a difference, too.

At Sunday’s Girls on the Run 5K (Nov. 9), we’ll be collecting high-need canned items to support Metro Caring, a local organization providing nutritious groceries and wraparound services to families in our Colorado community.

Below is a list of the most-needed items at this time:

  • Tomato sauce

  • Diced tomatoes

  • Low-sodium canned veggies

  • Canned fruits in water

  • Unsweetened applesauce

  • Canned soup

If you’re able, please bring one or two of these items to drop off at the 5K. Metro Caring cannot accept expired, open, or damaged items.

As a leading anti-hunger organization in Denver, Metro Caring works with the community to meet people's immediate needs for nutritious, culturally relevant food through its Fresh Foods Market, where people can get groceries for free. Help us stock the shelves with high quality, healthy foods!

Drop Off Locations

There will be collection points in both Lot D & Lot G. Donations can be dropped off at the UHaul truck near the Girls on the Run van in Lot D or at the Metro Caring booth in Lot G.

If your family could benefit from these services, visit metrocaring.org. For additional information and resources about SNAP Benefits, please visit: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) | Colorado Department of Human Services
