Dear Girls on the Run caregivers,
The spring season is officially underway, and we hope your child is having a wonderful time in our life-changing program.
YOUR GOTR GIRL’S LEARNING JOURNEY: AT HOME AND BEYOND
In the first four lessons of Girls on the Run, the girls have been building the foundation of what it truly means to be part of a Bold Heart Team. They kicked off the season by learning what to expect and how they will grow together, creating a safe and supportive space where every girl belongs. In Celebrating Who I Am, they explored and celebrated all parts of who they are, while also recognizing how each teammate’s unique strengths make the team stronger. During Happy Pace, the girls discovered the importance of pacing themselves, not just while running, but in life, learning that it’s okay to move at a pace that feels right for them. In Heart Power, they explored the idea that their thoughts, ideas, and feelings truly matter, practicing confidence in using their voices and discovering ways to activate their “heart power” in everyday moments.
In the next four lessons, the girls will continue growing their confidence and emotional awareness in meaningful ways. In Take a Heart Moment, they’ll practice simple strategies to pause, breathe and check in with themselves when things feel overwhelming. In Explore Your Emotions, they’ll learn that there are no “good” or “bad” emotions, just comfortable and uncomfortable ones. In Be Bold, they will explore how courage can help them share their thoughts and feelings even when it feels scary. Finally, in Self-Talk, they’ll learn to notice the difference between positive and negative self-talk and practice choosing thoughts that help their bold hearts grow stronger each day.
Talking about emotions can be difficult, so we encourage you to connect with your participant and engage in conversations about what they learned or discussed during Girls on the Run practice.
END OF SEASON 5K
As part of the Girls on the Run program, your child will be running a non-competitive, celebratory 5K with us at the end of the season. We want everyone to be a part of it and hope to see family and friends join in the fun!
Girls and their coaches are already registered for their respective 5Ks. If you want to join your GOTR girl, you'll need to register for the race using the proper link below. If you aren’t sure which 5K your team is running, please check our 5K list.
